Croatian maestro, Luka Modric recently wrote his name in the history books, becoming the first player to beat Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to the FIFA Best Men’s Player Award in over ten years.
Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui has suggested that Gareth Bale would be staying put for the upcoming campaign after indicating that the Welshman is ‘very happy’ at the Bernabeu. Bale’s future came under question shortly after his Champions League heroics versus Liverpool where he admitted his frustration over the reduced gametime.
This will be good news for Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane as his midfielder Luka Modric has been released from international duty by Croatia. This follows a negotiation between the Real Madrid manager and his Croatian counterpart. The player has been allowed to leave the national team after playing the first match against Peru and has been allowed to rejoin his club.
Former Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder Luka Modric said that he wants to retire at Real Madrid. He made this statement after rising speculations that the player might be leaving the club at the end of his current contract.
He said that he feels happy at the club and that he is playing regularly at the moment and that there is nothing that he could ask for more. Modric said that as a player you want to spend most of your time on the pitch, and this is what he is doing at the moment.
Real Madrid playmaker Luka Modrichas sent a supporting message to his embattled teammate Gareth Bale.
There are reports that Bale himself is gradually getting disillusioned at the club. He has not quite matched levels expected of him since his record £85 million move in 2013. He has suffered huge blows due to injuries and poor form that fans have turned on him. With KarimBenzema and Cristiano Ronaldo unavailable after Alvaro Morata’s transfer, the work has fallen on him and he has come up short.
Modric supports his pal and adds that it is possible he leaves if he wants to.
Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric said that he is excited about the new season and that he is looking to win trophies again.
He believes that there is a good team spirit within the group and that the players are working hard ahead of the new season. He said that it has been a wonderful game against Manchester United and that they are looking forward to replicating the same form in the Spanish league.
He said that their main rival will be Barcelona as well as Atletico Madrid and that they are looking forward to some tough encounters with these teams.
Concerning the departure of Neymar, he said that it is sad for a quality player to leave the Spanish league but he said that at the moment he wants to focus on his own team. He believes that they have a good manager in Zinedine Zidane and he knows what he wants to achieve with the team.
Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric opines that it was their counter attacking style that helped them wreck Juve in the final of the Champions League.
The game was hard fought and balance in the first half. However the second half was the game changer as Real ran off as eventual winners.
“[Zinedine] Zidane found the weak point of the Bianconeri defence, and we prepared for the final all week with that in mind. The Juve defenders are fantastic when they’re in position, but not if you catch them on the counter attack,” Modric said.
The player added that unlocking the defence helped them score three goals out of the four in the final. He gave Zidane the credit for the magic that rattled the opposition’s defence, ending in Real Madrid’s third Champions League title in four years.
It was back on August of 2012 when Luka Modric joined Real Madrid and signed a 5 year long deal with the Spanish club.
Luka Modric spent 4 seasons performing with Tottenham Hotspur but he failed to win any major trophy but with Real Madrid, things have quickly changed and the Croatian is clearly enjoying his time in the Santiago Bernabeu as Modric has extended his contract until June of 2020 and he has recently stated that he wants to continue performing for Real Madrid even beyond what his contract has established.
Real Madrid is facing tough times at the moment. Cristiano Ronaldo returned from injury late last year and seems not to have reached his best levels, even though he is aging.
The club is still facing a transfer ban and would have to wait until the summer to get reinforcement but Coach Zinedine Zidane is targeting breaking the European record of lifting the UEFA Champions League back to back. The La Liga is also up for grabs but the current team seem to need help. They ended their unbeaten run, face a threat of being knocked out in the Copa del Rey and their advantage in the La Liga seem to be sliding away gradually. This is a season the La Liga is a big priority, having not won the title since Jose Mourinho’s spell in charge.
