MODRIC SUPPORTS TEAMMATE BALE

Real Madrid playmaker Luka Modrichas sent a supporting message to his embattled teammate Gareth Bale.

Both former Tottenham Hotspur players at Madrid have history but it was for the greater good of the current situation that the Croatian back the Welshman. There have been rumours that Santiago faithful want the player out.

There are reports that Bale himself is gradually getting disillusioned at the club. He has not quite matched levels expected of him since his record £85 million move in 2013. He has suffered huge blows due to injuries and poor form that fans have turned on him. With KarimBenzema and Cristiano Ronaldo unavailable after Alvaro Morata’s transfer, the work has fallen on him and he has come up short.

Modric supports his pal and adds that it is possible he leaves if he wants to.

“There were no offers for him [in the summer] and what [Jose] Morinho said about him was just said in a complimentary way. Every player is transferable right now and we’ll see what happens in a year, although I don’t know what’ll happen next year, just as nobody does.”

The player signed a six-year deal last October, following an impressive season earlier. If he is to leave the club, it would likely be from £65 million north. Only a handful teams can pay that for a 28-year old and the player’s recent fitness concerns are a drag.

Manchester United have been interested in the player for long. It remains to be seen if Mourinho would bid for him if Bale becomes available next year. For now, Modric says the forward is “one of the best players.”
